Funding Available
The maximum contribution from the LEADER Programme to any project will be between 35-50% of the total eligible project costs.
The following are the grant rates for the Shetland LEADER 2008-2013 Programme:
Local Projects from LEADER – applicants maybe eligible for a maximum LEADER grant of 50% of the total project costs. A minimum of 5% of the project costs are required to be contributed by the applicant. The remaining funding requirement can either come from private and/or public sources.
Co-operation Projects from LEADER - there is a requirement for a minimum 5% contribution from the applicant with a maximum of 70% of eligible project costs from LEADER. The remaining funding requirement can either come from private and/or public sources.
Local Projects from Convergence - as with the LEADER funds there is a requirement for a minimum 5% contribution from the applicant. There may also be other private funding contributed to the project. The LAG can allow public bodies a maximum grant rate of 50% and for private community groups a maximum grant rate of 47.5% but there must be an equal or higher percentage of other public funding contributed to the project. Therefore to calculate the grant available and the required public funding match you need to deducted the private funding from the eligible project costs and limit the LEADER grant to 50% of this total. The remaining 50% must come from another UK public funding source.
The LEADER and Convergence grants cannot be released until all match funding is in place and no other European funding can be used as match funding.
